HDC Petite Ballerinas are a group of young dancers who will be offered the opportunity to perform age-appropriate parts with our Ballet Company in the Nutcracker Ballet and Spring Ballet Performance. Students in Elementary Ballet 6 are eligible to join. Requirements for Petit Ballerinas include:
Dancers must attend ballet class 2 or more times per week AND the Petite Ballet class on Friday.
Friday class must be the second class because rehearsal follows (rehearsal may run longer as necessary).
Dancers must conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Dancers must be dressed appropriately for every class.
Dancers must be able to attend extra rehearsals if necessary on Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons, and/or Sunday afternoons. Sufficient notice will be given on these occasions. This experience will provide the dancers an opportunity to better understand the commitment necessary to join the Ballet Company, as well dance along side Junior and Senior Ballet Company members.
In 1997 the Radomile Academy of Dance Ballet Company was formed to provide the most serious classical ballet students the opportunity to advance their technique and train for a professional career in ballet, if so desired. Haverford Dance Studio will continue to carry on this long-standing tradition. Students who have completed mastery of the skills taught through Elementary Ballet 6 can audition in the Spring for the HDC Ballet Company. One's participation in the company also provides performance opportunities to further the dancers' artistry and stage presence. Performance opportunities include the annual Nutcracker and Spring Show, as well as additional performances as they arise , including the 2022 1st Annual Havertown Winter Festival. Students who do not wish to participate in the Ballet Company are invited to continue with Ballet in levels B through E and participate in the annual Recital. Company contracts are offered to students who have auditioned and have been selected to participate as a company member.
As with the Ballet Company, Radomile's Contemporary Company will continue to be offered at HDC. This company provides an opportunity for students to expand on their ballet foundation and explore many genres of dance. Students expand their understanding of ballet, jazz, and modern through creative and exploratory choreography. Under the direction of Jim Bunting, the Contemporary Company will participate in the annual Spring Show, as well as additional performance opportunities to be announced throughout the year. Contemporary Company auditions will take place prior to the start of the 2022-2023 Season.
